Students (7th – 12th grade) are a high priority at
Warrenton Christian Church. We want to help students understand
Jesus Christ in a real and authentic way. We understand the best
way for this to happen is with parent involvement. This means that
we not only desire to help students grow and mature in their faith, but
we also desire to help parents grow and mature in their faith.
These are the top five things that parents and students need to know
about Student Ministries. For more information about these events, how
to get involved (both as a parent and student) contact Mike Packer or
Suzanne Corliss.
#1
Super bowl Party
Kick-off is at 3:30pm on February 7th. Students and
families welcome. Stop by the Corliss house as we watch who will become
the next Super Bowl Champion. Ladies bring the snacks and guys bring
drinks.
#2
February 14th
In a world filled with pornography, sexual
innuendo, and alternative lifestyles, how can a student hope to keep
pure in body and mind?. Beginning on February 14th on Sunday nights we
will begin teaching students about living pure inside out. At the end of
these five lessons students will be asked to make a commitment to remain
sexually abstinent until marriage. We understand that parents still have
the most influence in a student’s life. Because of this, lesson points
and discussion starters will be available in order to keep the
conversation going at home.
#3
30 Hour Famine
Mark your calendar for February 19th and 20th for
an overnighter at the church building. For 30 hours, participants get a
taste of hunger by not eating - something more than a billion people
around the world experience every day. The 30 hour famine event will
begin at 6:00 pm on Friday, February 19th, and end at 6:00 pm February
20th. Students will need to begin fasting on February 19th at noon.
Permission slips are available at the church. As soon as your student
turns in a permission slip they will be given a packet to begin raising
funds. Remember, every $30 your student raises will feed a child for a
month. Visit www.30hourfamine.org
for information on this worldwide youth event. We need parent support
for this, so give Mike or Suzanne if you are available for all or part
of the time.
#4
Youth Bowling
March 7th marks the first Sunday in March. Which
means it is time to go bowling. Students should meet at the church at
5:30 pm and we will return by 8:30 pm. Bring $10.00 for the games and
shoes.
#5
Open Door
The door is always open! For more information about
these events, how to get involved (both as a parent and student), any
other questions contact Mike Packer or Suzanne Corliss.
