This rustic camp is located 4 ½ miles east of Sweet Home, Oregon near
Foster Dam. The mission statement of Camp Koinonia states: “We are a
Christian camp organization founded in the authority of the Bible and
shall function as an evangelistic ministry of the Christian Churches and
Churches of Christ.” Camp Koinonia not only offers summer camps, which
our own Warrenton Christian Church children attend annually, but also

Chiredzi Christian Children's Home Chiredzi
Christian Children's Home is the brainchild of John Mark Pemberton,
Zebedee Togarepi, and Al Sohral. This labor of love was founded out of a
need these three men saw in the country of Zimbabwe, Africa. AIDS is now
a pandemic with Moms and Dads dying (about 1200 a month) everyday
leaving behind orphaned children with no place to go and no one to turn
to except the streets. Cheredzi Christian Children's Home is located in
the town of Cheredzi on a piece of land the Nesbitt Family helped them
acquire. They, too saw the same need. The plan was and is to build eight
houses to resemble normal homes with two Moms (Aunties) and 10 children
in each home. At present, there are three houses finished with one house
fully operational. In the future, Cheredzi Christian Children's Home
hopes to build a library, clinic, chapel and offices on the premises. At
present, Cheredzi Christian Children's Home also has three directors.
Two in the country, led by Zebedee Togarepi and Nathan Lawson. And one
in the states led by Bob Pemberton. Warrenton Christian Church helped to
build a house through a year long fundraising program in 2006. The
Warrenton House has 10 children living in it and each child has a
sponsor through Warrenton Christian Church.

Khayelihle Children's Village The AIDS scourge in sub Saharan
Africa is wrecking havoc with all facets of life. The surviving victims
of this pandemic are the children of the men and women who have died due
to this virus. Thus Khayelihle Children's Village was formed, opening
their doors in 1995. The K.C.V. mission statement is and always will be:
To provide through residential and community care, the physical,
educational, medical, social and spiritual needs of children who are
orphaned or abandoned.

Niños de Mexico Warrenton Christian Church has been
a supporter of Niños for many years beginning wit the children's
ministry led (at the time) by Pam Morimoto. They sponsored a young boy,
Regalio, who was saved from drowning by his own mother. Regalio was
taken to Niños where he lived for the next 11 years. He was a bright boy
and grew up to be a big part of Niños. He became a Christian when he was
only about 15 years old. Niños is in the business of saving children,
not only physically by giving them a home environment, but also giving
them a hope in Jesus Christ. As all children do, Regalio grew up and
moved away from the home in 2005. Just two years ago, Warrenton
Christian Church took on another child to sponsor. Her name is Wendy
Itzel Cervantes-Torres. Such a big name for such a little girl. Our
sponsorship is part of H.U.G.S. (Helping the Unwanted Get Started)
program at Niños. These children come from backgrounds that vary, but
they have one thing in common and they have been abused and/or abandoned
in some way. Niños is a ministry of the Christian Churches and Churches
of Christ extending loving care to these precious children. Terry Stine
led the Mission for over 20 years, but now is working for B.B.C. He is
leaving the Mission in the very capable hands of Seth Thomas as the new
Executive Direction beginning in July of 2007. Seth Thomas visited
Warrenton Christian Church for a Vacation Bible School week and provided
the children in attendance a deeper look at what Niños de México is all
about.
